Rocky River Municipal Court, Inmate Records
Jail facilities for Westlake Jail and other jurisdictions under the court are generally assigned for short-term/temporary detention (pre-trial detainees, bonds) and offenders serving short-term sentences imposed by the Rocky River Municipal Court (usually less than a year). Inmates convicted of felony or misdemeanor offenses are transferred to the Cuyahoga County Corrections Center.
Inmate records are considered public records and shall be available upon request to any member of the public. Therefore, the Westlake Police Department and Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department have a duty to maintain and dispense inmate records to requesters.

How to Use the Westlake Jail Roster
The Westlake City Jail does not maintain a separate Jail Roster. Researchers may find inmate information through the police department.
The Westlake Police Department uploads police reports allowing the public to access brief descriptions of the arrest calls. Police incident reports would typically disclose the brief description of the incident, time and location, name of the offender, and the nature of the charge.
Additionally, one can send a public records request via email to the Police Department records@westlakepolice.us.
Furthermore, when arrested persons are arraigned, a court record is created for that particular case. Hence, all records and documents of their arraignment, bail application, trial, and sentencing are available at the office of the Clerk of the Rocky River Municipal Court.
Interested persons can perform a case look-up online (under criminal cases) using the inmate’s name, case number, filing or hearing dates, or email the Rocky River County Clerk at Records@rrcourt.net.
What Information is Included in the Westlake Inmate Roster
Generally, inmate rosters or inmate records in Westlake may contain the following information:
- The name and identity of the offender: Full name, date of birth, age, inmate ID number
- Physical description of the inmate: the inmate’s height, weight, race, gender, sex, hair or eye color or any distinct physical features.
- The location, time, and date of arrest
- Description of the charge(s)
- Name of the arresting officer and agency
- Bail or bond amount
- Court dates/court schedule
- Holding Facility: The name of the jail or correction center where the inmate is detained or serving a term of imprisonment.

Arrest and inmate records by law enforcement agencies are generally public records and must be reasonably available for inspection and copying by members of the public. However, not all records relating to the arrest and conviction of an inmate may be publicly accessible. For example, any information that may reveal the identity of a suspect that has not been charged, trial preparation records, any investigative report that may jeopardise the investigation and detection of law enforcement officers, offenders below 18 years, and the identity of victims and confidential informants (Section 149.43 Ohio Revised Code).
